The Third Generation MINI Was Unveiled By BMW in November 2013, With Sales Starting In Early 2014. The New Car Was To Be 98mm Longer, 44mm Wider, and 7mm Taller Than The Outgoing Model, With A 28mm Longer Wheelbase And An Increase In Track Width. The Increase In Size Resulted In A Larger Interior And A Boot Volume Increase To 211 litres. The New MINI or F55/56 Carried On With It's Well Known Interior Design Of the Large Centre Screen Twinned With The Aircraft Like Flick-Switches Showing Homage To BMW's Past Origins As An Aircraft Engine Manufacturer. In 2015 Mini announced the range-topping John Cooper Works model, offered for sale with the 2.0 Litre engine that produces 228BHP and with the automatic transmission will race from 0-60 in just 6.1 seconds. To distinguish from a standard Cooper S the JCW got entirely new front and rear bumper/apron units. The front one has big intakes which incidentally leaves no room for fog lamps, but there’s ample compensation in the form of standard LED headlights as well as the daylight running rings. The back lower apron it looks like a diffuser around the twin central pipes, though there are no claims that it works as one. The sill covers and roof spoiler are bespoke too. Inside there are superbly supportive suede-effect seats and as you’d expect a whole lot of red splashes and JCW badgery. Making this a compact, punchy Hot Hatch that ticks all the boxes for city driving, or a weekend drive through country roads.
