"I needed a new car but it had to be an estate with a sunroof as we have a couple of dogs.I like my cars, so I wanted something a bit different to the run of the mill and it had to be petrol. Looking on the internet I immediately came across a gorgeous Hyacinth Red Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake AMG! The superb photographs and description were mouthwatering! However, it was with Parkway Specialist Cars, Mansfield,which is some four hours drive from me and I have always inspected my other cars before purchase .The specification however was perfect for me and I was concerned it would be snapped up. Never a good negotiating position! With some trepidation I phoned and spoke to Jonathan. Talked it through and all seemed as described so agreed to buy the car subject to an inspection and test drive. Mark kindly picked me up from Mansfield station and we had a good chat about their various cars which are stunning.. "Having searched for a while for a good, low mileage and well maintained Porsche Cayman S 987; I saw one on pistonheads and was quick to click the link. Going on to Parkways website it was immediate that the garage was a good one with many prestige cars in their stock. I emailed that evening and was quick to get a response by the next morning from Jonathan. All details I asked for were sent across and within a couple of days I sent a deposit to hold the car for me. I live in Scotland and at the time was working offshore so it would be a couple of weeks before I could go and view the car. I was quite confident in sending the deposit and was promised (and put in writing) it was refundable should the car disappoint me. The journey down from Edinburgh Waverly was relatively painless; taking the train and departing at 9:30 I arrived at 14:00 in Mansfield following a few changes. I was picked up from the station and met by Jonathan when I arrived. The car most defiantly did not disappoint, it was sitting waiting and looked just as good as it did from the photos. After a quick chat and look around the car I was handed the keys and took the car for a test drive. The car was flawless and when I got back to the garage I had a quick cup of coffee and did the deal. I set off up the road with the car and got back up to central Scotland for 22:00 that night. The next morning I got an email asking if everything went okay and if the car lived up to my expectations - YES and YES! Very relaxed feel to things from start to finish. At no point was any pressure applied, which I personally hate! What you see on the website is what you get in the flesh. "Have we just dealt with the most affable, sincere and professional Car Dealership in the country? I’d like to announce that in our opinion we have. We had been patiently waiting for the right car to surface when we noticed one for sale at Parkway. A quick email exchange confrmed that the car was still available and that we were more than welcome to travel over (we live 80 or so miles away from their premises) for a viewing and a chat. We arrived a little later than we had arranged although this proved not to be a problem in the slightest. We were greeted by Jon, a most friendly and personable chap! He told us to take our time, look over the car, get in and see what we thought. His turn of phrase was spectacularly comfort-inducing, telling us he knew we didn’t need him hovering over our shoulders to look at the car. With the keys in the ignition, the exhaust burbling away and smiles on our faces that would light up the Polar Night in mid-winter we were given a warming coffee to enjoy whilst we explored our potential purchase. The staff at Parkway are justifiably adamant that the cars they sell are of the highest calibre. Looking around the forecourt you would be very hard pressed to find an example that might remotely give grounds for questioning their bold statement. Examination complete we were offered a test drive and a suitable route was suggested. Away we drove, still grinning like the fruit of Lewis Carroll’s famous feline dreams. All great. The car was perfect and hit the spot immediately. Back to the Dealership and we perched ourselves in anticipation of the negotiations ahead of us. Jon had been industrious in our absence and created an initial proposal that suited our expectations and we saw no reason not to proceed. We had a later appointment in the day so were somewhat pressed for time. We had concerns we might seem less than sincere by admitting this but Jon understood perfectly and outlined a plan for the transfer of our private plate and all other paperwork to be completed. So far so good? No, so far so perfect! We had further telephone and mail correspondence throughout the following week just to keep abreast of developments with the sale and transfer of registration plate. Each time contact was made it was undeniably relaxed but unquestionably professional. These are gentlemen that many Car Dealers would do well to understand and take notes from. The date and time for the handover was agreed and when we arrived the car was parked in front of the garage gleaming and perfect after having been detailed inside and out to a fantastic standard. Paperwork was completed in a matter of minutes and we became owners of a beautiful, now realised dream. Jon had some friendly words of advice to take it easy whilst a customising ourselves to the new car and assured us that we were to contact him immediately in the event of any problems or questions. His ethos being clear - if he does not know about an issue then he cannot solve it. All we have to do is call. Yes, this may be a gushing, superlative-loaded piece extolling the paragons of virtue that Jon and Parkway have proven themselves to be but it is truly deserved. When you are making a special purchase and realising an ambition (in our case) then the experience should be one to remember. "I don't usually write reviews but I had such a good experience here, that I really felt I should. I first spoke to Jonathan who was very straightforward and with no blarney. I arranged to come up later in the week and spent a long time chatting cars with Mark - no rush, no pushing and plenty of knowledge from a genuine fellow enthusiast. A long test drive (I got lost - oops - and the AM nav of course redirected me straight into some roadworks - oops again). But no problem, and a really good opportunity to test the car. Minor fault identified on the test - caused by the car doing so few miles recently. Immediately identified (correctly) by the on-site mechanic and fixed before delivery. We agreed a fair price and the car arrived a few days later, faultlessly prepared, on the day and within minutes of the time it was due, and exactly as I expected. I am very very picky about my cars and the sales experience, and I can say genuinely this is the first time I cannot pick fault. I am very glad Mark and his team are not nearer home - it could get expensive! If you are in the market for the type of cars Parkway sell, you really should talk to them at least. "I live in Spain and recently sold my beautifully restored BMW 3.0Csl.I needed something a bit more modern and usable to replace it. It had to be relatively rare and quirky to protect its value and I decided on a BMW Z3M Coupe. I found one (well, two actually) advertised at Parkway Specialist cars, a company I had no prior knowledge of. I contacted them initially by phone and was so impressed with Jonathan's obvious knowledge and easy professional manner that I arranged to go and look at the car I had chosen. I was picked up at the airport and on arriving at their showroom was given all the time I wanted to look at the cars. A test drive convinced me and twenty minutes later the deal was done - no pressure - no fuss and a promise that the very few minor niggles I identified would be addressed before I took delivery.
